Zwack disappeared from the American market for some time, but now its making a comeback. Unfortunately, not a lot of people are familiar with the product right now, and the most common comparison I hear being made to Zwack is Jagermeister. To me, I think that is a bit shortsighted, both liqueurs stem from a long European tradition of herbal liqueurs, and while there are some similarities in flavor, I find Zwack to have a very pleasant sweet cinnamon flavor that finishes with just a bit of citrus peel on the tongue before it disappears. All in all, a pleasant liqueur to sip neat (although I have been hearing rumors that Zwack and Red Bull is replacing Jager and Red Bull as the drink of choice amongst a certain set of people), and it mixes well. 1 oz Carpano Antica sweet vermouth
1 oz Zwack
2 oz orange juice
Add all ingredients, chill, and serve up in a cocktail glass.

Unfortunately, what we here in the U.S.A. are getting (courtesy of Diageo) is NOT the Zwack Unicum of years ago, but what is sold in Europe as "Unicum Next", a sweeter version of what we used to know as Zwack Unicum.
So if you happen to be in Europe and see a product called "Unicum Next", don't bother picking it up as our Zwack is the same product.
I definitely prefer Zwack to Jagermeister. You can actually sip Zwack if is you prefer, something that I find hard to do with Jager. As the fad goes right now, it's also great with Red Bull if you enjoy energy drinks with your liqueurs.
Zwack is awesome! It's much smoother then Jager. It has a lighter taste and a higher proof. I recently tried a Hungarian Surfer Shot. It's Zwack, Parrot Bay Coconut and Pineapple juice.
I must be one of those "certan people" because I do like it with Red Bull! The Zwack girls got me to try a shot and I must say, I was surprised I liked it as much as I did! One of my good friends, and a great bartender, made me a special shot with Zwack one night; made of 3 different layers: (bottom layer- grendadine) (middle- sour & peach) (top- Zwack) DELICIOUS!!!
I had never heard of Zwack until recently. I had the opprotunity to try it at a bar a few weeks ago and it was awesome! I've never really liked Jagermeister, so I was skeptical, but I loved it!
I have to say that I agree with the lot of you. I also prefer Zwack to Jager. I was introduced to Zwack last year and since then have enjoyed it with red bull as well as sipping it straight as an after dinner drink. I dont mind the sweetness. I think it adds a very nice finish.
I went to a Zwack event with one of my friends who is a bartender in a local Boston bar. That experience has made it to my top 10 favorite nights of all time! Rockband competitions, Hungarian Bulls, Zwack Attacks = One Crazy Fun Night!! I am now a huge Zwack supporter. Whenever I see it out, I buy a round for my whole crew!
Zwack is definitely a better drink. It's smoother yet 80 proof (to Jager's 70 proof). I enjoy it both with Red Bull and straight but Shannon's concoctions sound great too. I'll be sure to try them on my next outing

Zwack on the rocks is fabulous; i almost feel like I'm sipping a cocktail, instead of just one liquer. I'm interested in finding cocktail recipes for it, since i think that mixing it with red bull prooobalby doesn't show the flavour to its best advantage :-)
